Eeeep! Spring is almost springing, and I just can’t wait a minute longer for it! It might still be in the forties here (with occasional snow) but I’ve already packed up my winter frocks and swapped glittery white flakes for bright yellow feathers.
Until the real blooms arrive, I’ve covered my tabletops with colorful sprays of twig & tissue flowers, pulled out our Peter Rabbit crafts, and combined the two to make these bunny and chick trees!
If you’re looking for a simple activity that incorporates a little bit of nature, a little bit of art, and a whole lot of cuteness, look no further than our bunny and chick spring twig trees! In addition to looking oh-so-adorable, this hits all the sweet spots of spring crafting with kids.

To make your own bunny and chick spring trees, you’ll need:

BASIC SUPPLIES:
- A few collected twigs or sticks
- Scissors
- Craft glue or a hot glue gun
- Tape
- Thread or embroidery floss
- Watercolor cakes or liquid watercolors
OPTIONAL SUPPLIES:
- Our free printable bunny and chick spring template set
- Acrylic paint and a foam brush for painted twigs
- Feathers and pom poms
- Art and craft embellishments for decorating your bunny and chick ornaments
You can create a full afternoon of it by going on a twig retrieval mission, doing some spring watercolor painting, working on scissor skill work, finishing up with some creative decoration time, and don’t forget the final unveiling!
How to Make Bunny and Chick Spring Trees – DIY Instructions
Print out our spring templates or draw your own.
Print out the desired pages of our bunny & chick printable templates onto heavy cardstock or watercolor paper.
Decorate your bunnies, chicks, and other spring elements.
Decorate your spring tree ornaments! I printed mine on watercolor paper and used some watercolors for a soft and colorful spring look, but you can decorate them any way you like. Use crayons, stickers, fabric, paint, glitter, and natural or collaged items to make these spring ornaments all your own.
Cut out your spring tree ornaments.
Cut out all of your spring ornaments once they’re finished and/or dry. I added pom-pom tails and feathers to my bunnies and chicks for extra cuteness.
Cut ribbon or twine for ornament hangers.
Cut 3 – 4-inch pieces of twine, ribbon, or embroidery floss. 
Tape your ribbon or twine to the back of your ornaments in a loop.
Tape or glue both ends to the backs of your decorated bunnies, chicks, eggs, and garden vegetables to make a hanging loop for your ornaments.
OR print out and prep these little “ornaments,” then just add crayons. Short on time and help from little hands, but want to create something similar for a spring shower or your own decor? I’ve been there, so I scanned in our painted watercolor versions and added a PDF page for that.
